Message from the President
I am honored to be serving as the President for the 2010 Cookeville Jaycees and I am looking forward to a very exciting year. For those who are unaware, the Junior Chamber of Commerce, Jaycees, is a civic organization with the purpose of determining community needs and providing support for those needs through fundraising projects within the community. The Cookeville chapter focuses its efforts on children within Putnam County. This past year the Cookeville Jaycees raised money for the annual Christmas for Kids program through various fundraisers including our 2nd Annual 5k Run with Tennessee Technological University's Cross Country Team, Poker Night at Gail's Wagon Wheel, 1st Annual Summer Soiree and the 1st Annual Golf Tournament at Southern Hills Golf and Country Club.
As a result of the money we raised, we were able to provide Christmas presents for over 125 children in the Putnam County area. We also able provided each Pre-K teacher in Putnam County supplies for their classroom at the beginning of the 2009-2010 school year. In addition, we were able to support by donating either money or time to the Cookeville MS Walk, Blood Assurance, Fall Fun Festival, TTU Athletics as well as to some individual families throughout the year. The Cookeville Jaycees also provided a $150.00 book scholarship to a graduating senior in Putnam County to help assist them in buying textbooks for any higher education program.
The Cookeville Jaycees have been truly blessed by the continued support from individuals and businesses in Putnam County. Some of those loyal contributors include: Crawdaddy's West Side Grill, Bilmar's 19th Hole, Highways Inc, Bradley Furniture, Bank of Putnam County, CHAR, The Lollipop Shoppe, Attorney David Ledbetter, Herald-Citizen newspaper, Magic 98.5, Del Monoco Winery, Southern Sun Tanning, Mr. Tee's Screen Printing, Manhattan Salon, Tennessee Tech University Cross Country Team, Solutions IT Consulting, Red Element Salon, Common Sense Publishing, Gunnels Florist, Cookeville Budweiser, Chris Raines and the Goons, Vinny T's and the Cookeville Corvette Club. We are extremely grateful for the continued support from all these generous donors.
I would like to personally extend an open invitation for anyone between the ages of 21-40 who think they might want to find out more about the Cookeville Jaycees. Please feel free to attend a meeting at any time.
I anticipate 2010 will be a great year and we look forward to continuing to serve this great community!
Sincerely
Kristin Jernigan
